Majestic India - Part 1

It had always been a deeply held desire of ours to explore India; a mystical land whose charm has been the basis of many magical films and television series, not least the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Is India really as they portray or is it just an illusion?

Well, we can confirm it is even more wonderful than we thought or dreamt it would be. You simply can't prepare yourself for the spectacle, wonder and excitement of this amazing country.

Our bespoke tour started in Amritsar with its awe-inspiring Golden Temple (pictured above and below).

We were humbled by the sheer scale and selflessness of the kitchen at the Golden Temple, where volunteers serve free meals around the clock to pilgrims and visitors alike.

Another highlight of Amritsar was a visit to the Wagah border crossing with Pakistan. Pure theatre from the Indian Army and the huge crowd who had come to party and enjoy themselves.

We then travelled south to visit New and Old Delhi. An eye-opening walkabout street tour of the latter with a knowledgeable local guide is a must. The street made Masala Chai was delicious and a real highlight, as were the spice markets.
